Details

The Jenin Afterschool Camps project was developed to address the educational and psychosocial challenges faced by children in Jenin, particularly in a context of prolonged school disruptions and increasing socio-political instability. In collaboration with YDRC Jenin and the Blind Rehabilitation Care Society, this initiative has focused on providing structured support to 150 girls and boys aged 8 to 11.

Access to stable education is essential for children's development. However, in the Jenin Governorate, data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) for 2022/2023 highlights the significant impact of long-term labor disputes and ongoing military operations on educational continuity. These factors have resulted in intermittent school closures, shifts to hybrid and remote learning, and increased psychological stress among students.

To address these challenges, the project has integrated educational and psychosocial strategies aimed at improving academic performance and strengthening children's emotional well-being. The project has sought to develop customized educational and psychosocial support materials tailored to the specific needs of children in Jenin, provide structured tutoring sessions to reinforce key subjects and bridge learning gaps, conduct interactive psychosocial workshops to enhance school motivation and build emotional resilience, and encourage civic engagement by offering opportunities for children to participate in community initiatives and leadership activities, fostering social responsibility and cohesion.

This initiative has provided a safe and enriching environment for children to continue their academic and social development despite the challenges they face.
